Acne is a serious condition of the skin in which the hair follicles are blocked by oil and dead skin. Acne usually appears on the skin, neck, chest, shoulders, back and the face. The excess oil may be as a result of hormonal imbalance, stress among other causes. the condition causes distress and scar the skin, the pimples and bumps heal slowly and if not treated others start cropping up. I can be inform of non-inflammatory or inflammatory lesions, or mixture of both.
A few years ago, I had the worst experience with acne. At first I developed whiteheads with closed plugged pores on the face. I assumed they would clear but after a few days the pores started opening up producing a brown oily material especially on the sunny days. Later I got papules which were small red and tender. They were painful whenever I touched them. After two days they had grown bigger and I decided to get rid of them by squeezing them with my hands. When I tried to remove the pimples they were producing pus at the tips.
This is when I realized something was wrong and started looking for a dermatologist. I called and booked an appointment the following week with the dermatologist. The pimples grew into big and bumpy beneath the skin. By the time I went to see the dermatologist the lumps had grown big and were filled with pus under the skin. I did not believe that my smooth beautiful face was gone. The dermatologist said I was suffering from acne vulgaris in which there is blockage and inflammation of hair follicles and their accompanying sebaceous glands. I received treatment and got my glowing, healthy and pimple free face back.
