All I wanted was to be thin, fit and keep up with my daughter

Fat Loss After 35: Research — Recent studies examine why weight loss stalls after long progress, showing that metabolism changes and biological factors (not willpower alone) can reduce fat mobilization. I didn’t start with big goals.
I wasn’t dreaming about a perfect body or running marathons.

All I wanted was to stop feeling tired all the time.

One afternoon, my daughter ran ahead of me at the park. She laughed, turned around, and yelled, “Come on!”
I tried.

My legs felt heavy. My breath came fast. And for a moment, I pretended to tie my shoe just so I could rest.

That moment stayed with me.

I realized it wasn’t really about the number on the scale.
It was about not wanting to sit on the bench while my daughter played.

It was about wanting to say “yes” instead of “maybe later.”
It was about having enough energy at the end of the day to read one more story.

I had tried before. Diets that left me hungry. Workouts I couldn’t stick to. Plans that worked for a week, then fell apart when real life showed up.

This time, I stopped trying to do everything at once.

I focused on simple changes that fit into my days.
Things I could do even when I was busy, tired, or stressed.
No extremes. No guilt. Just small steps that added up.

Slowly, my clothes fit better.
My energy came back.

And one day, without thinking about it, I was running across the park with my daughter, laughing instead of gasping for air.

That’s when I knew something had changed for good.
